It all depends By Cathy-Dee

I think it just depends. January is not usually a busy month with inservices, etc., so you don't have as many teachers away for those. And after the holidays many are well rested and are less likely to need sick days. But in my school I've been off all week from the chicken pox and a fellow colleague will be away for the next two weeks or longer because of an operation.I would say that January is probably one of the slower months, but don't worry things should pick up again soon.
