QUESTION #1: I have not received many sub jobs this past week, either. I do have one, however, for this coming Wed. Don't worry, it's nothing you have done or did not do. Most teachers this time of year
Now, for your letter... Yes, it is evident that you don't want to restrict yourself and that you are very willing to sub upper grades. Something that is also evident is you refer to students as "kids." Actually, you use both terms: kids & students. This might be too picky, but I'll share what one administrator told a group of prosepective teachers once: "Students are not kids; baby goats are kids." Obviously, this guy (man) had a big problem with the term kids. In case you run across another fussy administrator, perhaps you might choose to refer to those pint-sized humans as students. Just thought I'd share. Not meant to offend, really. QUESTION 3: I don't know where you can make cards on-line. However, you can make them yourself. I make my own. I use heavy index paper to print mine. Beleive it or not, they look professional enough. Most teachers I have subbed for this year seem to hang onto them. I have had several call backs since using them. Many have also said how much they appreciated the form I have made for me to fill out at the end of the sub day, giving a brief overview of the day. The form includes such things as : Students Absent; helpful students; disruptive students; check off for lessons completed or not completed; a few lines to explain why a lesson was modified or not completed; my questions or concerns I had. Good luck to you with your new adventure : subbing. Sincerely, G.M.
