A Classroom Teacher's Perspective
By Michelle who hasn't had a brea

Clip to ScrapBook
This is my 13th year teaching and I have taught at 4 different schools. At 3 of them I have been informed that teachers do not get breaks, we get planning periods. Our time away from our students should be spent in planning,
grading, etc. Bathroom/lounge time should be limited -- and, btw, no drinking/eating in the classroom. In a place where the full time teachers are treated in this way, I am certain administrators do not see preps as important for substitute teachers (who will not be around to complain EVERY DAY). Don't feel like you are being treated as second class citizens -- the rest of us are
treated just as badly sometimes. Anyone who thinks preps should be eliminated should try taking your place (or mine)just ONE day -- most of them would never survive!!!
