The second thing that bothered me was that I was only being paid $60 a day and was made to work even more during what should have been a break/planning period for me. A teacher was absent and there was no sub to cover, so they reasoned that the sub should cover for that teacher. Not fair at all. Even subs should get a rest, a chance off of the feet. I found those days to be extremely exhausting and long. It is no wonder that they have trouble getting subs. However, if it makes you feel any better, they also do this to the regular teachers. I guess it's not quite as bad for them, though, because at least they get paid well compared to subs. Whether it's a sub or a full-time teacher, I think the administration should come up with another solution for coverage besides having that teacher provide coverage on their time off.
