To teach k-12 in the US you must be certified. You will need to go back to school for about 1 to 11/2 years to get this - and is different for every state.Check the Oregon Department of Education: www.ode.state.or.us/ Bilingual | teachers are needed everywhere, but you also need certain amount of classes and take a test to be qualified for bilingual teaching. It also pays more if you are a certified bilingual teacher. Just speaking another language is not enough. I don't think you will be able to support your family as a sub. It's not a constant job - one week you might work five days and another | | three. Also, when school starts is slow and you have to consider summers off.You should check colleges and universities in the area you are planning to move - you might be able to teach college with your degree and you don't need to be certified and you already have teaching experience. Contact different colleges and see if they need teachers in your field. Moving might be a good idea for you, but remember at first it will probably be very hard. You need a place to live, car, insurance, utilities, and many more. If you want to rent an appartment you usually need first and last months rent plus a security deposit of the same amount. If you want to teach you have to consider school cost. Have you done any research in the biology field? What is your concentration in biology? Perhaps you can get a job as a biologist - which would pay better - I would think - and support your family while your husband learns english. Good Luck!
