Subbing in U.S.
By Ruth

Clip to ScrapBook
Andrea,
I am in California Bay Area (near San Francisco). A word of caution: this area is extremely expensive and a substitute teacher cannot support a family on a sub's pay. The pay range is about $100- $125 per day(depending of the district), but the cost of rent is about $2,000 per month for a modest apartment.
Yes, bilingual teachers are in demand. But you would be better off with a credential or working towards a credential.
As another person posted, forget teaching with your 5 yeras of biology training and get into the private sector. There should be some kind of jobs available that would pay better, be far less stressful, and help to support your family at the same time.
The best of luck to you.
