courage and long term assignment
By Anonymous

Clip to ScrapBook
Thanks for your encouraging words. I believe that my expecations (both for myself and for the situation in general) were unrealistic. I realize this now that I have more info regarding what was going on in class before
I arrived on the scene. things haven't really improved. As much as I can I stick to my core values and to what I believe will help those students who are open to learning. The situation, however, remains a challenging one. It's hard for me to stay positive. Each day, however, is a new day. The assignment will be over in 3 to 4 weeks unless the regular teacher returns sooner. At this
point, I must concentrate on finding new employment. One thing I will say--support from other teachers and from the administration at the school will help the situation or it can make it worse. If substitute teachers who are serious and committed to their work are not supported and treated with respect within the school environment, all they can hope to do is "babysit" until the regular teacher returns. I certainly am not interested in this sort of arrangement.
