busy work
By Peg

Clip to ScrapBook
I think that work needs to be relevant for students to invest in it. Would you want to go to a job and just do meaningless work? (Hmmm...perhaps some substitutes do feel this way when they are not getting supported by the faculty and students.) Part of the problem is that some classroom teachers are under the misconception that it is easier for the sub if they give them busy work and videos. Another reason is that it is easier for the classroom teacher to leave such work because they don't have to put the time into explaining what has been and needs to be covered. This forum is great because substitutes and classroom teachers need to be able to share thoughts and observations of what works and what doesn't.
