WOW!
By Ken M.

Clip to ScrapBook
Michelle,

That is bizarre...hopefully these kids will learn quickly how to also define a word in terms of context. That is the type of phrase I would also use to keep kids on task and I've done enough sub'ing to know that
I would not only leave a note for the teacher but also follow-up to see what can be done to fast-track some focused lessons on the context thing. I'd think that 2nd graders could grasp a lesson or two on context usage of such a word.

It's very sad to see that 2nd graders, perhaps even younger, would challenge your use of the word and force the context to try to raise it as a bad word.

I

also agree with sharing this with the principal; I guess we sub's must also go to lengths to cover ourselves; sadly there may be some parent out there who'd also force that word out of context and run to complain.

Best, Ken M. - Wisconsin
