Many moons ago, when I was a relatively new teacher (I have been teaching 23 years now), I was talking to a student and said, "Dion, what is all this sh*t in your desk?" I was immediately horrified and apologized left and right. He cracked up! Thank goodness we really enjoyed one another, otherwise I could have gotten into big trouble. Anyway, I now use this story to teach my students why they should not use foul language. I tell them that the words are offensive to people, and if they get into the habit of using them, they might slip out accidently when they least want them to! It really did help me to clean up my act.
