"afraid to sub (again!)"
By Mary McKinnon

Clip to ScrapBook
Amy,

Are you considering a career teaching?

If so, please consider becoming a para-professional-aide for at least a year. If you are in Texas then they (the school district you're with) will pick up your tab for college
credit you are receiving while you are employed with them. I learned so much from the district that I work in from that initial year and the years following that I could never replace the "textbook knowledge" for REAL EXPERIENCE BECAUSE YOU CAN FEEL REAL EXPERIENCE.

My best suggestion to you would be to beef up on your own lesson plans a couple for each grade you are "put into the

system to sub". At least this wa you will be able to know that you have a back-up ready and waiting. I'm sure the other teachers are doing nearly, if not the exact same content the teacher you are subbing is doing. Befriend them and they will be another ally for your next visit.
