    I can't speak for Jules, but I think we're on the same page here. During group time, if you want the kids to sit still and quiet, you'd say "Criss cross applesauce, hands in your lap." It means you want them to sit "Indian style" (no longer politically correct to say.). This way, all of the kids ar sitting on their bottoms and noone complains that they can't see. I wouldn't try this past grade 3 (that's stretching it a little, too). I've found that it works perfectly with preK-2.
