6th graders
By Jami

Clip to ScrapBook
I used to be terrified of being with 6th graders. They are such complex individuals. All of these concerns about hair, who they like, who likes them, what to wear, etc....it makes me laugh now. I've subbed very often in 6th grade this year, so I feel much more comfortable. Yes, they drive me nuts, but I've learned not to show that to them. (It's like sharks smelling blood in water!) I use humor with them, which works well. I am very firm, but also fair. I take recess away, or a privilege if possible. I try to relate to them as much as possible. They trust you if you talk w/ them about something they like, and discipline them calmly. Hope it helps.
