Thanks so far for the responses. ITs always interesting to hear different approaches and then try to determine what I think will be best for my student (everyone's different).

We have not really discussed it any more,
since like I said, I'm not sure he even really knows "what" it is yet other than it makes a loud noise when it goes off and you go outside. For the next few weeks, he's had to wait in the room with me after the 1st bell rings and has to wait till the 2nd and walk right to the bus. He was not happy with this the first few days, but has adjusted well to it already (2 days later) and will
sit and wait quietly at the table. I just go about my business and make sure he's not playing or up walking around. Once we get past this stage, I think we'll look at the alarm itself and use Kristy's idea about hands at our sides and not to touch, no fire drill. I'll have to see if that "No fire drill" makes any sense to him or not.

If none of that works, I guess we'll just always make sure he's away from it or someone's blocking it from him....
