what does she understand now?
By kristy

Clip to ScrapBook
Does this student understand 1:1 correspondance? I assume she rote counts and recognizes numbers. Does she have conservation of number? Those things would be necessary before jumping into place value. I ask this because I'm wondering if you need to forego the traditional curriculum and start a more "life skills" approach using Touch Math and also working on money and telling time. If she is gaining concepts, but just very slowly it may be in her best interest to continue down the general curriculum path, but given that she is a 6th grader and I assume these concepts have been presented to her before, I think it might be time to try another path.
