blind student

Clip to ScrapBook
I have a blind student in my early childhood class. He is only 3 1/2. I meet weekly with his assigned Vision Itinerant instructor. I plan my lessons in abvance & go over them with her. She then adapts them to his needs or we discuss ways in which I & his 1:1 aide can present it to him.
She also gave me a booklet: "When You Have a Visually Handicapped Child in Your Classroom: Suggestions for Teachers" which is from The American Federation for the Blind. In the appendix there is a book listed: A teacher's guide to the special educational needs of blind & visually handicapped children (NY:American Fed for Blind, 1982, S.S. Mangold, editor). Hope some of this helps!
