* Ask the resource teacher for direct help, telling her what you are having a problem with specifically
*Keep in mind, too, your resource teacher/department may not be well informed themselves on this child's needs & they may be grasping at straws themselves. They may need time to get educated on the subject themselves. Working with special children is indeed a challenge & sometimes gets to be a touchy subject. I get a lot of "you're lucky" when I say I have only 10 students in my morning class & 10 in my afternoon. But then I get a different reaction when I tell my listener that they are all 5 & under and are classified as "developmentally delayed". And this is my first year teaching!! Good Luck & hang in there!
