Unrealistic expectations
By EI teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I think you need to talk to your spec ed director and seek their advice. Also, I think that you need to schedule a meeting with these parents and school supports (social worker, etc) and be very frank with the parents. Be prepared to show test scores and criteria to get into college, discuss the difference. Have concrete evidence that what they seek for their child is truly unrealistic. Also, have options there at the meeting that this student will be able to do after high school, such as work experience and living situations or group homes. Hope this was helpful.
