Reading readiness
By Pam

Clip to ScrapBook
Sounds like they are not ready for reading focus on them learning the alphabet. There are also activities you can do that involve using manipulatives for reading. Example use 3 cups and have the student listen for the sound
say the word is mug and you want them to tell you where the g sound is they would put a chip in the 3rd cup. Do more alphabet activities too so they can learn their alphabet, focus on some of those alphabet books letter A with pictures of airplanes ants (things that start with A. Also you can try teaching some functional things too I use survival signs like stop, do not enter, and
some of these students pick up on these really quick. Starting with word families too to teach blending of words helps the students are successful pretty quickly with these. Hope this helps.
