I do not have experience with a student that is bi-polar, but I am a teacher whose father is bi-polar. It can be a tough disease. Generally, I would be as understanding as possible. Keeping a rigid schedule is important (eating, sleeping, medication, etc) Other than that, remember it is chemically based -the brain works in mysterious ways! It is a waste to say "yesterday you wanted to..." because often bi-polars do not remember an episode. I hope I helped.
