Dear MA,
I knew a reader would react to the requirements as you did. I'm sending my son to a private Catholic school and feel that I need to follow the path that they follow. The modifications made in class are almost
non-existent. The battle that I'm choosing to fight this year is for his open-book science and scoial study tests not be held against him because he doesn't have the same reading ability as his classmates. He needs support here and hasn't been getting it. This is something that I will have placed in his IEP because it really is his bigger issue. The vocabulary I'm living with because
he's been able to manage OK for most of the year. Unfortunately he lost over 20 points on a recent reading test because he wasn't able to feedback the vocabuarly. This was unfortunate because he knew the comprehension well but this didn't hold as much weight. Thank you for your feedback, we'll keep at this because it's certain to continue throughout his remaining three years at the school.
