b and d

There is a trick to help students remember the b and d. Make a fist with your thumb up. Do this with both hands. Then put your fists together so that your knuckles at the bottom of your fingers touch. With your thumbs up it looks like you made a bed shape with headboard and footboard. You tell the students it is a bed and sound out the word so they hear b sound at the begining and d sound at the end. Then look at your hands. The left hand with thumb up looks like a b and the right like a d.Just like the sounds in the word.
