Just a thought

When I took my methods class in reading we read a chapter book and our instructor made us each a "diary" of sorts. She had broken the book down by chapters. Each section of the "diary" was somewhat different, but some things that were included were vocabulary, open ended questions, our reactions, what would you title the chapter, etc. Our diary was stapled together for us like a book and we were given assignments to do both as homework and in class. Obviously, it takes a lot of time and effort on the teachers end, but it was great fun. Just a thought.
