money lesson
By Shay

Clip to ScrapBook
I did an observation lesson in math with money, using the book Alexander Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday. I gave each child the amount of coins that Alexander had and they take money away as Alexander spends it (I gave them a sheet of paper with two columns, one is money Alexander has, the other is, money Alexander has spent). Then, when we are done, I give them a sheet of pictures of small items worth various amounts of money. I have them cut and glue in groups things that add up to a certain amount.

I hope this helps - you can email me if you have any questions!
