Starting Division

Marilyn Burns book does a great job of introducing division. She uses the book The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins. As you read the book, have the students draw a picture to help figure out equation. Bring some cookies in to really get the kids into the idea of how many cookies each person will get depending on how many people there are to share them with.
