Making Words
By Kelly

Clip to ScrapBook
Dedi,
I do making words with small groups and students do it on their own at centers. When I do it with them small group I use the plastic letters and we work together to make words. When they do making words at centers
I use a book that I found. It has 60 lessons in it. Each lesson is on a sheet that you can copy for your students. The letters that they need are at the top of the page and they just cut the letters off. Then they use the letters to make the words. The sheet has blanks to tell them how many words they can make and how many letters the words should be. I have talked with many teachers
and professional educators and they have all said that doing it this way was fine. The students aren't able to make as many words on their own as they do when we are in a small group, but it is the fact that they are use their head to see what words they themselves can come up with. I hope this helps. E-mail me if you would like for me to look on Monday and find out the name of the book or send you a copy of one of the lessons.
