Grade Level
By Kathy Westermeyer

Clip to ScrapBook
I currently teach grades three and four and I would agree with the previous post--there is not a lot of difference between the two grades. I taught just third grade for nine years and loved it! It's a very transitional
grade--there's a lot more expected and it can be a challenge for some children, but the ones I taught were very eager to learn.

These past five years I have taught in a smaller school and multi-grade. This is my second year for 3-4 and it's a good combination. The biggest challenge I can see is getting the fourth graders ready for fifth grade which is a HUGE transition. (I did 3-5 one

year which is NOT a good combination.)

If you enjoy third, you'll probably enjoy fourth as well. Have never taught Kindergarten, but I think it could be great fun. The advice above to contact others at the grade levels you're considering is a good one.

Good Luck!
