Teaching
By Kathy Westermeyer

Clip to ScrapBook
This is my twenty-third year teaching and I'm "hooked." Why do I stay in teaching?

For the children--each one is unique and the chance to make a difference is unbeatable! It's rewarding to see the light go on with a
difficult concept--to celebrate milestones--to create a community of learners.

For the creativity--Twenty-three years and no two have been alike. For that matter, no two days within the same year are the same. What works with one group/child will not necessarily work with the other. I love being able to create a "homelike" atmosphere in class--to discover new ways to make learning

fun.

For the challenge--Never a dull moment! Always new horizons to conquer! Always children that make you keep searching. You can never get bored teaching~~

Is it frustratiing? Sometimes! But I stay in teaching for those magical moments when everything clicks--when goals are met--when children come up with new insights in learning or relationships. Materially there are better occupations--but the intangible rewards are priceless.

If you love children, enjoy learning, and relish a challenge--I say "Go for teaching!!"
