I basically vary how I teach. One day I may lecture from the book and the next day we may work entirely on AM. My class sounds like yours. I've got one little boy who has mastered over 270 objectives while the boy across the room has literally mastered only 20 objectives in 18 weeks of school. Luckily, most of the class is very competitive and they "compete" against one another -but then I have a few kids that NOTHING would motivate!!! I have cups for the kids to use. They can put a red cup that says "Do NOT Disturb" on their desk when testing and a blue cup that says "HELP" on their desk when | | they need help. Unfortunately, when I look up there are 20 some cups and I never make it around the entire room. Some kids will sit (impatiently) and wait on me the entire period. I guess thats my biggest gripe. I havent been around long enough to "see" it raise test scores. Have you, does it really help?
