same problem

I have a student who sounds just like the one described. When he writes, he tries to use both hands. He is left handed which makes it more difficult for him. I have started teaching cursive. The rest of the class is doing great, but I don't think he is ready for it. Our school doesn't have an OT, so I need some other advice. I will try the pencil grips to see if that works. If anybody has any other ideas I would like to hear from you.
