Everyday Math

We just found out that our district has adopted the Everyday Math for next year. I had a chance to pilot the program for 3 weeks (not nearly long enough) Can you give me some good, practical advice about the do's & don'ts etc. of teaching it to 2nd graders who haven't previously been working wit it? I'm teaching in Illinois, too.
