love to read
By Pam M

Clip to ScrapBook
The way I get my kids to love reading is sometimes to just let them read. I think it is really important not to have assignments always attached to reading. Another thing that I do is I sell books to kids. By this I mean
that when I buy new books for the class or bring in materials from somewhere else. I put on a kind of advertising show. I tell them how wonderful a book is and who might want to read it because of interests or other books that they have read. I also sometimes have the kids choose their favorite book and then they tell the class how wonderful it is. Another thing that I have been trying lately
is to have one on one conferences with each child about the books that they are reading, and then I suggest other books they might like. I hope this helps. The most important thing though is to show how much you love books.
