matter
By Diana O

Clip to ScrapBook
I usually start by showing my kids a block and try to jam a ruler through it, then we talk about how solid's don't change shape easily. I then use the ruler and put it into a cup of water, discuss, then pour the water into different sized container. Point out how water takes up the shape of the container etc. Then I put the ruler into a bag of air and discuss. Newbridge has a great book called What's the Matter? Foss has a great kit. There are also poems and songs on the web. Try Scienceexplosion.iuma.com for science songs. I got several poems off of a website but can no longer get access to them. I can email them to you if you'd like. Also look up the miclimb.science.org under your benchmark. Gook luck.
