Ideas for community writing
By Mary

Clip to ScrapBook
Dear Laurie,
Why don't you have your kids brainstorm who the members of their community are. Then have your kids each pick one member of the community and write that person a letter. In their letter they could ask what that person does to help the community. The children could also tell their person why they are valued. I bet those people who receive letters would love the assignment and that many of them would write back to your children.Kids just love to get mail. Make copies of the kids' original letters and pair them with the responses that you get back. Then make a class book.
Mary
