lights out, read a book
By Rebecca

Clip to ScrapBook
My students know that they are to enter the room quietly after lunch and put their heads down (I teach third grade). I started this because they wanted to put their heads down in classes after lunch so I gave them their time to put their heads down. Take this time to read a book, this is usually a chapter book (so they don't have to try to see pictures but to imagine it as I read). I usually read one of the Ramonas, Charlotte's Web, How to Eat Fried Worms, etc. My kids love this time and so do I. When I think back to my elementary days, I remember my teacher reading to us after lunch and it was always a treat!
