Clip to ScrapBook
My students love to paint as I am sure many students do. What I do is to incorporate a painting/drawing, etc. activity with the story we are reading in our Reading text. For example, I have students read about the author and the illustrator. We then draw or paint a picture using the same type of medium (if possible) as the illustrator has. For example, the author of our recent story used water colors and then painted over this with colored pencils. We did the same and wrote a short story under the picture to tell about it. They could write first and then do the painting afterwards.
