beach activities

Clip to ScrapBook
Have parents send clean plastic jars with lids and the labels removed. On your trip give each child a large ziplock bag to fill with 'treasures' they find at the beach. Take along a bucket and bring back enough sand to fill each jar 1/4 to 1/3. When you get back to school, or the next day, put the sand in each jar (remember only fill 1/4 - 1/3) then have the students put in the 'treasures' they found; put the lid on tightly; turn the jar on its side and gently shake until the sand is distributed. As the jar is turned some items are uncovered and others are covered with sand. Colorful beachy decals make these pretty, but it doesn't really matter. Most kids will keep them for years and remember the best trip they ever had.
