Valentine's box
By Rhonda

Clip to ScrapBook
Every year, even when I taught fourth grade, I make a Valentine's bag. I use small brown paper lunch bags, red/silver/or white doilies, construction paper of red, white, and pink, markers, and chalk. I cut the construction
paper into widths of about 1-1 1/2" strips with the length of about 11". The children choose two colors and then paste one color on top of the other {this forms a 90 degree angle} then they fold one onto the other until the paper can no longer be placed onto the other. Grab both ends and pull... now you have a neat "weaving" and this becomes the leg that is glued to the bottom of the
bag. They do this for each leg and then for the arms. The arms are glued to the side of the bag. Then I have them cut out four hearts to glue onto the end of each leg and arm. The doily is glued to the front of the bag and is used as the face. The children can draw eyes and mouth or use squiggly eyes. Yarn can be used as hair... I have them place their name onto the front of their bag and they hang it on their desk or on the wall. The bags are adorable and are perfect for carrying all their treats. Good luck...
