Mother's Day gifts

The other first grade teachers and myself have planted marigold seeds as part of our unit on plants and seeds. The children care for them and decorate a pot (usually a small plastic glass)to take them home with a homemade card for their mothers. I always plant a few extra in case one of the children's plants don't grow. If the planting is done well ahead, the marigold is in bloom when it is taken home.
