I teach first grade and know that at the beginning of the year many children are at a ending Kind. level. It takes about a month to get them up to "speed" and many need review. You might get some of your "old" students and will know their levels right away. Our reading series builds on K concepts and adds concepts as we go. Hopefully, you have some other teachers that will share and help you. Don't be afraid to ask. Check the internet for ideas and this site for help. It is so much easier to plan with someone else each week. You can share materials and ideas. That's the best way. Good Luck!
