Guided Reading
By Cindy Lou2

Clip to ScrapBook
When doing guided reading are you using leveled books? If you use leveled books and know the grade level equivilents then you can find what level the student is at by doing a running record. There are many different leveling systems but they usually have a range. For example levels 4-16 could be first grade. A book at 4 would be begininning first grade and 16 would be end first grade. You could transfer those into letter grades if that is required on report cards. For us the student's reading level is the basis for the child's grade in reading. Look into the books Guided Reading by Gay Sue Pinnell and Observation Survey by Marie Clay for more on guided reading, levels, and running records
