we had a kit

Clip to ScrapBook
We did a measurement unit where the kids traced thier bodies on butcher paper, measured things using paper clips, pencils and all kinds of stuff, measured stuff using adding machine tape (and then put the tapes onto a chart), measured how far they could step with their legs, etc. There's a pretty well known story that I even heard as I girl in school about the king who orders a bed made for his queen. He walks around the queen and measures how big the bed should be with his feet. Each person that gets the message has smaller feet than the king until finally the bed is made and it isn't the right size at all. Not sure of the name of the story, but its something like "how big is a foot" or something.
