Germs!
By Traci

Clip to ScrapBook
I did an activity called "Glitter Germs" with my 1st graders and they really enjoyed it. The focus is on the importance of washing hands with soap and water. It can be a little messy so I prefer to do it in small groups!
(I also have a sink in my room.) The glitter represents germs. Let each child rub a little lotion on their hands (it helps the glitter stick) and then pour some glitter into the palm of one hand. Each child should rub their hands together to "spread the germs". 1)Give each student a dry paper towel to see how many germs they can wipe off. 2) Give each child a wet/damp paper towel and
compare how many germs come off. 3) Finally, let each child wash their hands with soap and water. After using soap and water, students can really see the difference soap makes!
