This year i tried something new... I agree, you get sick of the same ideas year after year. I used cardboard milk/OJ cartons (1/2 gallon) and cut off the top (the area that includes the spout portion.) I went ahead and 'wrapped' all of them in brown paper ahead of time-- the paper that comes on the big rolls that most schools have. For the opening at the top I just tucked the paper down into the box.

Students added an oval 'muzzle' to a cut out bear head, big wiggly eyes, and 3 small hearts--one for the nose and 2 in the ear area. Then they added a bear mouth in the muzzle area under the nose. On the front of the box we glued on a red paper doily heart and each child glued in their picture--you could also just write in their names. Finally we glued on 2 paws above the heart so it looked like the bear was holding the heart. When the head was dry I stapled in the head to the top of the box. *I used brown and lt. brown craft foam, surprisingly this stuff is VERY easy to cut, plus it holds up better.

I have 18 students and their boxes were full--since some kids also bring in small bags of treats/suckers, but it all fit! So i guess that's all i can ask for!
