1st Grade SAT test
By Betty

Clip to ScrapBook
Do you mean Stanford Achievement Test? We gave this test to our Gr. 2's at the beginning of the year. It was divided into 3 sections: Phonics,
Vocabulary and reading comprehension.
So I'd suggest:
--a strong understanding of phonics
--a good oral vocabulary
--lots of reading to her and discussion about the stories.
Our second graders did very well in the phonics and reading comprehension sections. The vocabulary was consistently weak. I'm struggling with that now, how to improve the vocabulary for when my first graders write it this spring. We always discuss the vocab in the stories we read, but the vocab in our stories now is so simple. On the test it was quite complex. Good luck! Hope this helps.
