Was in your shoes!
By Tara

Clip to ScrapBook
I have been teaching a year now but was in your shoes this time last year. I don't no why you were hired mid-year. I was hired do to a mid-year retirerment. It was not an easy job because the children are very much in
routine the way the other teacher wants it to be, so it will be a challenge for you to break that routine and start the way you want to. I found that you need to walk in the classroom just like it was the first day of school. Explain your rules and expectations of them. Have them help you make the rules. Have some get to know games and activites ready for that first day and write a letter
to the parents introducng yourself. The parents in my school told me that the letter really helped them to relax. The parents were worried that it was not going to be a smooth transaction for their children.
It was a great experience and the retired teacher left me lots of goodies. I have a copy of that letter and would be more then happy to to email it to you. If you have any questions email me!
