Night Things
By Rosemary from Campbell River,

Clip to ScrapBook
What a wonderful theme! Books that could/should be used are:
1. Good Night, Owl P. Hutchins
2. The Dark R. Munsch
3. Where the Wild Things Are M. Sendak
4. There's a Nightmare in My Closet M.
Mayer
5. Owls J. Arnosky

My Grade 1s had wonderful learning opportunities studying owls, playing owl and prey tag in the gym (the kids who were tagged were digested along the sidelines but were soon 'coughed up' to join again), making feathery, wall-papery nightmares behind construction paper closet doors, learning about the 'ow' family, using Pat Hutchins pattern to make their

own Good Night stories, drawing in Pat Hutchins' style to make their own owls, making words out of the letters in nightmare (one of my families made 132 words when this project was sent home!), making huge paper bag wild things for the wild rumpus........ I love this theme!
