Clip to ScrapBook
I work with first graders and this year we made the cutest picture frames! First, cut 4" circles for each child made out of study cardboard or you can also use tagboard (just double the thickness by gluing two circles together).
Second, have the children bring in dry beans, preferable green peas or some other type of "green" dry bean. Also, have them bring in some type of "red" dry bean. We also had our children to pick up acorns on the playground to use also. You will need some kind of container to put glue in (Elmer's type glue is fine). Mix two parts glue to one part water. Just add a handful of the
green beans and a handful of the red beans and also the acorns (if you wish). Have the children spoon the mixture out with a plastic fork. Tell the children to allow most of the glue to drip off and then put this around the tagboard circles that you have made in the shape of a wreath. We added a special touch by putting the childs small picture that usually comes with their school pictures (the ones that you put in the cummulative folders) in the middle and put the beans around the picture. Don't worry too much about getting the glue on the picture as it dries clear anyway. For a nice finishing touch we added glitter and then let it dry for 24 hours. They turned out beautiful! Just have the child put their name and year on the back with crayon or marker and it will be a treasured keepsake for years to come. Hope you have fun doing this one!
