ZOO
By LISA

Clip to ScrapBook
I just finished a zoo unit. On thing I did was put the students in pairs and they had to agree on an animal to research. I would not let them duplicate animals. Each group had to have a different one. I then laid out Ranger Rick magazines, "Zoo Books", and other animal books. They had to look through these, tell me why they liked that animal and a little bit about where it lives. We then built dioramas for our animals and made a class book. "We like cheetahs because they..." We held a zoo program for the other grades in our building and shared our dioramas and books that we had made. I also threw in some of our letter songs that were about animals.
