Wow one of my favorite topics is the zoo- on the weekends I am a docent at our zoo. Most zoo's have an educational department with lots and lots of programs both prior to going and after going to the zoo. Lots of kits you can check out before going to prepare the students. One of my favorite activities to do is the scavenger hunt- I make and laminate cards with differents parts of an animal for example a picture of a feather, a beak, webbed feet,white fur, brown fur, scales, etc. The kids get the little zoo stickers and everytime they find an animal with that item they put a sticker under it. When you get back to school its a great way to try to reinforce memories and writing activities about what they saw.
